Where We Fish
Living in southern Indiana we could fish in either the Ohio or Wabash Rivers, however we choose to fish in in-shore waters. We mainly fish at Lynville Park Lake, which is a reclaimed coal strip mine pit. When we have vacation time we can be found staying in a floating cabin at Patoka Lake.
Lynnville Park has a boat launch, dock, playgound, campground, hiking and motorcross trails and a planetariem. There is an entrance fee to the park, we purchase a yearly pass so we can go whenever we get a chance.
Patoka Lake is the second largest lake in the state. The kids and grandkids like it since they can go tubbing, and we can cruise at full throttle, if we choose. The fishing there is good, if you know where to fish.
The floating cabins allow us to dock the boat within a few feet of the door. The fishing is good from the dock, which means that someone almost always has a line in the water. We have caught bluegill, crappie, catfish, largemouth bass and several turtles fishing from the dock. Also two grandkids who happen to fall into the water. That is why they always wear a lifevest whenever they go outside the cabin. Safety First!
Back Left to Right: Beulah, Deeadra, Scott, Jamie, Breanna, Brooke, Fred, Logan, Bill. Christian, Matthew and Melissa are missing.
Fred is a Life Member of North American Fishing Club, a Member of BASS and Recycled Fish.
If you choose to keep fish, only keep what you will eat and practice catch and release with the others. Remember to carry out what you carry in and leave the area better than you found it. Also, be sure to follow all rules and regulation of the areas you fish.
Take a Kid Fishing, you both will learn somthing.
Life Jackets don't work if they are not worn... correctly.
The Pontoon Boat
She's a twenty-foot Starcraft with a fifty-horsepower Force engine.
She sits high in the water, allowing us to go through some shallow waters, as long as it's not too shallow. Which has allowed us to access some areas that have little or no fishing pressure, and some areas where people were surprised to see a pontoon boat.
We've added a few luxury accessories to her. Bill does most of the adding, and a great job he does too. We added lights to the front deck to help us see when we've stayed out after dark, and when we need some extra light on the dock. One of the best things we've added is the anchor winch, which allows the person sitting in the drivers seat to drop and haul in the anchor as needed. No more strained backs from pulling up the anchor.
She also has a freshwater sink and a head, both of which the ladies dearly love. They come in handy for the guys too.
